How is Your Fine Jewelry Made? Details

Last time, Sterling Canyon described where much of the fine jewelry today is made.  Ancona, Italy is a hot bed of artisans that supply many fine jewelers with beautiful necklaces and bracelets that customers are looking for.

We traveled there several weeks ago to take another look.

The process used to create the finest designs can be found in the lost wax technique.  Here the artisans create a mold of the design out of wax.  Molten Silver or Gold is then poured into the molds and allowed to cool.  Basically the same process that bronze sculptors use.

Here are a few of the wax molds.  The heart pendant you buy from Sterling Canyon is created from this same technique.

The details are fabulous, the lifetime enjoyments of wearing a beautiful piece is incalculable.

Pictured here are rough blanks that still needs polishing.

These artisans own a lifetime of talent and we are rewarded with their creations.  Sterling Canyon will go back to visit Ancona someday and offer the same fine jewelry to our customers.  We can hardly wait.
