Two Buck Chuck is Ten Years Old

It has come to the attention of Sterling Canyon that “Two Buck Chuck” the terrific wine sold by Trader Joe’s has been selling for ten years strong.  When Trader Joe’s first came to our town, we were informed by Joe’s followers that the best way to test the wine is to buy one bottle for the $2.00, run out to the car and open the bottle and take a taste test.  If it tasted great, go back into the store to buy a case.  We at Sterling Canyon have never purchased a bad bottle of “Two Buck Chuck”.  The wine comes in all sorts of flavors including Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, White ZinfandelBut wait, there’s more!  Turns out that the wine is made in California by the Mondavi vineyards.   The wine as we are told is left over from their production of those small bottles of wine you get on airlines and other places.  It is a high quality wine to be sure and Mondavi is a fine vineyard.  Your local sommelier won’t admit it but I’m sure they’ll sneak a bottle or two just for the price.  So put on your favorite Sterling Canyon necklace and pull out a glass and toast to Two Buck Chuck.

  1. Nice post! Personally I’ve been known to sip a few “Two Buck Chucks” myself. Bravo!

As the PR consultant to Bronco Wine Company, producers of Charles Shaw wines, let me thank you for the nice mentions but make a couple of points. There are several “Mondavi” vineyards owned by various members of the family, but Bronco sources no wines there. The Franzia family (not involved in the box wine) is the largest owner of vineyards in California, and sources the wines there and from the bulk market. In these l0 years of Charles Shaw, over 600,000,000 bottles have been sold; so let’s toast that!
