A couple of weeks ago, Sterling Canyon reported on the purported scarcity of Tanzanite, the incredibly blue gemstone that is found only in Tanzania. It is indeed the world’s rarest gemstone.
The gemstone is only found beneath the Mirerani hills at the border of Manyara and Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, and TanzaniteOne, the nationalized mining company that controls the Tanzanite mines, has said it has ruled out the possibility of finding deposits elsewhere in the region. The updated assessment is that the mines will be spend within 20 years if the current annual yield of 2.2 million carats is maintained. Not much supply in today’s world markets.
Sterling Canyon continues to carry a small but unique selection of Tanzanite earrings and necklaces. With the world’s rarest gemstone, unique and quality are the standard terms to be had with Tanzanite jewelry.
